Suppose I'd like to have a cold standby configuration as follows:
- RME - active
- CM - active
- DFM - active
- IPM - standby (stop the services)
- ACLM - standby
- IPM - active
- ACLM - active
- RME - standby
- CM - standby
- DFM - standby
How do I synchronize the database and the configuration such that in the event of one server crash, all we need to do is bring up the standby services in the other server?
not sure if this config will work.
ideally both servers should be cookie cut to same config installed the same file locations, and any library directories, polling settings etc should be identical. (not sure about IPM 'cause I don't use it, but depending on how you have ACLM setup, since it is part of RME, you will need RME to run on server B.)
In this manner, what you would do is back up the db locally, and have a tape job or ftp job to copy or move the data to temp location on server b, and run the restoredb.pl
in your cscopx\bin directory there is a backup.pl script. You can use windows AT schedule or cron to schedule job, or set it up through Cw2k.
