DLSW / SNASw replacement

Hi there folks.

I understand that Cisco is dropping support for DLSW and SNASw. It is no longer supported on new routers and older 2900 series will have no more updates after December this year.

Is there a simple drop in replacement for Cisco DLSW or SNA switching?

Is using L2TPv3 pseudowires a viable option to extend SNA across a WAN? And if so how can redundancy be addressed?

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

We have the same question.

Hello,

I have looked around quite a bit, but the sobering answer seems to be: there is no replacement. Your only 'option' seems to be to stick with the old equipment/IOS versions...

Hi,

L2TPv3 is a suitable alternative that provides the same functionality

@pman Just out of curiosity (and because I could not find any information at all): how would the L2TPv3 need to be configured in order to support DSLW/SNA, considering that the newer IOS versions and equipment have dropped all support for these technologies ? Do you have a config example for e.g. a Gibraltar or Fuji release ?
