Does a CAT2950 ver 12.1(11)a switch have to be configured to work?

Will it work out of the box with no configuration? I cannot find anything in documentation that says whether it will or not. We are trying to use 2 new switches out of the box and we get a link light for all connected devices, but none are actually connected to the network.

Please Help!

Yes, it should work as a flat, one-VLAN, Layer 2 switch, right out of the box.

Management will not be available until you add an IP address (mask, gateway, etc) via the console.

If you are having DHCP/Login issues, make sure you enable port-fast on the ports

Yes it should work as out of box,- But it always good to enable basic things on the switch, like mgmt ip, portfast on the ports etc..
