i dot think so its supported on 2940
Catalyst 2940-8TT-S 8 10/100 Ethernet ports and 1 10/100/1000 Ethernet port
Catalyst 2940-8TF-S 8 10/100 Ethernet ports, 1 SFP1
module slot, and 1 100BASE-FX port

if switch doesnt support POE then interface cant either. you need to use external power supply.

no it wont if switch does not support poe.
but you can use external power and it will work fine.

? what about connects the Cisco phone to the wall jack? it shouldn't make difference, should it? but we do have 2940 in our prduction environment , and we use Cisco phone.
it shoudnt make any diffrence coz power will come from cisco switch.
are you using external power supply ??

2940 doesn't support that CLI (show power inline)

actually there is another soltuion for this, the Cisco phone comes with power cord, just use it.
