I have a satellite internet link of 6 Mbps with a RTD of appx 550 ms. I am concerned about the download speed i am getting on it.
1- With download accelator (DAP) , mutli sessions i get an accumulative download of average 550 KB/sec
2- A single download, without download accelator, i get around 120 KB/sec
I am doing ftp from a server hosted not far away from my service provider.
What do you think, this download makes sense ? Should i be happy with it? Any tweak to be done with the TCP window size ?
Thanks for all help !!

That seems OK.

So you mean 120 KB/s download on a 6Mbps link is okay ?

With 550 Ms RTD, yes, it is OK.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
So if its normal like 100 RTD, how much should be the download speed ?
I am using the formula bandwidth/8 to determine a rough estimate of download speed. can we accomodate RTD in this formula to get some rough figures ?
