hi,

Is it possible to enable login by http (web interface) to catalyst 4006 switch with WS-C4006 Software, Version NmpSW: 6.3(5) ??

Hi Ahmed,

yes you are right just copy the cv image and it will take care of the things and it will not affect the config as we are not changing the main system file and cv image is just for HTTP access and will not disturb the main config but always recommended to take the backup of your old config just for precaution.

did you try the command set ip http server on the cat 4006 ??? you can also optionally set the http port by using the command set ip http port.... see the command reference for these below:

Hi,

I think you also need to have Catalyst 4000 ciscoview ADP Flash Code in your switch to make it web enabled.

Like image name cat4000-cv.6-3-2a.bin which should have "cv" in it which stands for cisco view.

Sachin may also throw some light on it.

I have tryed by this command set ip http server enable and I can login but after login I got one blank page contain only !!

Hi Ahmed,

Please check your image it must be having "cvk" keyword in it which stands for cisco view.

Just check your image.

I think there is "CVK" keword in image .. so how I can downloaded so I will copy it to flash .. and is it will efect the current bin ?

Hi Ahmed,

Just download the ADP flash code image from cisco site and copy it to the bootflash of the switch and you will be able to access the web page after that.

I'm still not able to upgrade it cuz I can't download 2 images files required for that

Hi Ahmed,

I think you also have pcmcia card in your switch.

Can you post me the outpu of "dir slot0:" and "dir bootflash:"

Lowering down the image may affect your current config better to upgrade the image. There is also cv image in 7 release. But you can leave the current image which is 6.5 in your swich just copy the cv image which is 6.3.2a cv image.

regarding images verision this is note from cisco documents "Enabling the Catalyst Web Interface on Catalyst 4000 Series Switches Running CatOS"

Note: The CV images are not released for every system image released. Use the CV image in the same release train as the system image. For example, as of this writing, 6.3(2a) is the latest CV image in the 6.3 software release train, and should be used if your system image is 6.3.x.

then I think I have to use CV image with same system image version meaning cat4000-cv.6-3-2a.bin with cat4000.6-3-2a.bin..

anyway I will send the output for u and let see what we I have to do.

Hi Ahmed,

You are right but your system image is 6.3(5) that means 6.3 is the train you are following so even if you copy 6.3(2a) it will definetely work.

For any 6.3(x) system image cv image 6.3(2a) will work.

For why this image is not show in dir bootflash: can you try this command

mecit (enable) undelete bootflash:cat4000.6-3-5.bin

then try again

dir bootflash:
