frame header/trailer sizes for serial link?

Hi,

I'm looking for the frame header and trailer sizes on a Cisco default hdlc serial link. The references I'm finding on the web vary quite a bit on what they should be. Some list a protocol field, some list a 16b CRC and some a 32b. What does Cisco use?

I'm working through some lab stuff to calculate the theoretical maximum throughput on various links for various frame sizes. I haven't been able to find a lot of definitive information on this. Anyone have some favorite links on this?

Thanks,

Greg

HDLC uses 16 bit CRC.
