i want to make two switches hot standby.
i mean ,if any of the two swiches is bad then the other will take and continue working without stop.
can Cisco do it?

any model of switches,
i know Redundant supervisor engines can be used on Catalyst5000 seriers,but now i want to know can i make two same model switches hot standby?

If you have properly designed network with dual core and all your other closet/distribution switches dual attached to core switches, you can make core switches redundant. Layer 2 redundancy is taken care by Spanning tree and for layer 3 redundancy, you can use HSRP
