HSRP and stackable 3750 Metro Switches

Hi,

if you have a pair of 3750 metro switches and each is connected to a Gigabit Optical host, then you have 2 IP addresses on the hosts, 2 corresponding IP addresses on the 3750 metro gigabit ethernet ports. Then if you want to run HSRP, you add one more IP address which sits on the active 3750.

If you then add another pair of 3750s for expansion, can you reuse the HSRP address configured for the first pair of 3750s, if all four 3750s are configured as being part of a stack?

br,

Matthew.

your question is a bit vague. what do you want to accomplish or what is the exact problem.

you want to have a standby router for your hosts connected to the 3750 stack group. the default behavior for a stack group is that the L3 engine switches over in case of a failure to another switch within the stack group. It's not necessary (may even be impossible) to run hsrp within the stack since it has only one active engine.

please post a diagram and config
