Hi cisco. I'm a Korean engineer.
I want to know WS-C4948 specifications.
After I read a datasheet, I recognized that WS-C4948 had 3 options ( WS-C4948-S,E,(blank) )
In the datasheet, shows below contents.
-S : IP Base software image(RIP, static routes)
-L : Enterprise Services software image (IPX, AppleTalk, OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS,BGP)
blank : optional software image
Among them, I am wondering (blank)'s content, optional software image, what is this real meaning.
I think that optional software image may become -S or -L whatever I upgrade -S or -L image. RIGHT?
Thank you for reading my word.
plz contact..

The "blank" variation is a 4948 with the LAN Base image. That means primarily only Layer 2 features. Table 7 of the product data sheet describes exactly what is not included in the LAN Base image.
In any case, these switches have been End-of-Sales since August 2013.

No. the WS-C4948 (with no letter at the end) is LAN Base - the basic Layer 2 switch software image and capability.
It can be upgraded to IP Services (-S) or Enterprise (-E) with an optional image which requires purchase of a license to be entitled to use it.
