L3 point to point link between two physical locations

Hi,

I have a question regarding setting up L3 point to point link between two physical locations. we have a L2 link right now and cannot be monitored.

we are looking to setup a the two links we have ( copper and fiber) between two near by sites as active/ active. so when one link goes down the second one takes over and we also would be able to monitor the link. If both links are active we want to share traffic on both of them, is this possible and any ideas or suggestions?

Thank you

Hello, aabraham1027. What kind or model (if Cisco) switch are you currently using? Feel free to send me an e-mail (adawa@cisco.com), as well. Kind regards.

Hi Adawa,

Thank you for getting back, we will be using a 2801 router on both the sides.

You can configured etherchannel which provide redundancy as well as load sharing between two physical link.

But only ISR 2811, 2821, 2851,3825, 3845 support it
