Lan Confused

These are what I have:

12 Units with XP (1 with Windows Server 2003)

Each with realtek ethernet card

File Sharing is enabled in all units

a 24 Port Switch

My Problem: I can't share anything.

I'm using a 24 port DLink (DES 1024D) 10/100 ethernet switch. I have not configured it. I wouldn't know where to begin.

I have a ZyXEL Prestige 600 series modem.

Right now, my main problem is sharing my files with other units even with the internet unplugged.

Here's a summary so far:

I can ping the server (running on Windows Server 2003) from any other unit (Windows XP) regardless of ip and gateway addresses (10.x.x.x, 169.254.x.x and 192.168.x.x). That's about it, no unit can ping any other unit in the network.

I'm using a 24 port DLink (DES 1024D) 10/100 ethernet switch. All units have a realtek fast ethernet card.

Can u check weather the in winxp is firewall enabled or disabled.if it is enable then disable it and check it.
