Hi, after reloading a Catalyst 6009, MSFC2 boots in ROMmon. I've tried to boot the image from rommon but i receive the following message:

"Environment checksum in NVRAM failed.

Bus Error exception"

What does it mean?

What can i do?

does it look a hardware or software error?

Thanks

Hello,

This looks like a corrupted nvram,  I'm afraid there is little you can do from rommon. In your case it seems that it can't even read the environment variable and the device won't boot without it. I agree that usually this is highlighting a bad hardware, see TAC Case collection (unfortunately you won't have access to IOS CLI as suggested there):

I've tried to reset the BOOT and BOOTLDR variables from rommon:

>BOOT=

>BOOTLDR=

>confreg 0x0

>sync

Then it warns "Environment checksum in NVRAM failed"

>reset

The MSFC restart with the error:

"ROMMon NVRAM area is corrupted. Initialize the area to default values"

And enters in rommon another time

I think it looks a hardware error, true?

or  can i format nvram, or copy the ios image or something like that?
