Network connectivity puzzel on UC220 ESXi host runnig BE6K

In the process of bringing up a new BE6K to replace a BE5K  I was not able to get the subscriber installed because it could not talk to the CUCM-P NTP server.  Normal trouble shooting process, UTILS NTP STATUS and see that though the NTP servers are defined, they are not synchronizing.  Why, not reachable.   Next trouble shoot connectivity,

going through the basics:   We are 192.168.3.8 and can ping the host at 192.1683.7 and the old Cluster at 192.168.3.5 as well as the DG at 192.168.3.254 with full connectivity between devices.  Next ping google.com, or my favorite time server nigeria.colorodo.edu or 128.138.140.44 and no reply! Putty into the old operating CUCM at 192.168.3.5 and UTILIS NETWORK PING 128.138.140.44 and get reply no issue.  Hmmmmm...

Problem statement; UC220 on 192.168.3.7 can ping all devices in the same subnet but can not ping the Internet!   192.168.3.5 can ping the Internet and all devices including the UC in the same subnet.

Unplug cable from UC Host NIC and plug into laptop, draw dhcp ip in the same subnet 192.168.3.252 and an ping google.com all day long?  Put the able back into the UC NIC and no can ping anthing beyound the same subnet!

Now 192.168.3.5 server is in a different switch then the 192.168.3.7 server so you might think uplink issue, or vlan tag or the usual suspects.   How is then that using the same cable, switch port the laptop can do it?
