OSPF area0 and virtual link

"All area must be connected to area 0, either directly or through the use of virtual links." What does it mean "virtual link"? How to configure it to connect to area 0 with virtual link or directly? I never use more then one area in OSPF before. Is this out of scope for CCNA?
