Password reset and console funny character

zillah2004

I have got router 2600 , I tried to access the router with default hyper terminal setting , but I could not, then I changed the baud rate of (com1 properties) from 9600 to 19200.

It worked fine and I was able to be in usermode level of the router, when I tried to access the privilege, I could not, because the password has been changed.

I tried to recover the password by changing registration value, then I have to issue command reset, after "confreg 0x2102" command, to restart the router, but I received this funny character

rommon1>confreg 0x2102

rommon 2 > reset

€€˜€æ€€€˜€æ€øøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøøø

what should I do to solve this issue

Two things.

First, the value to use for the password recovery is 0x2142.

Second, try resetting the HyperTerminal speed back to 9600 after the reset.

Hope this helps,

Hello,

to be on the safe side, I would also install the latest version of Hyperterminal, you can download it here:

HyperTerminal Private Edition version 6.3
