I'm troubleshooting an application peformance issue in a LAN environment. The application is a shared Access database on a Windows 2003 file share. Users on the LAN are complaining of slow performance.
Basic environment is as follows: core 6509 switch with Sup2 and SFM. Server in question is gig attached on VLAN 20. Clients are on 3550 switches (vlans 30 and 50) with gig uplinks directly to 6509. 6509 is doing all L3 between VLAN's.
The 6509 has a NAM blade in it. We've been watching the server gig port and are seeing average response time for SMB (NBT-Session) as high as 450msec during the day. We also see some SMB late responses.
My gut tells me that the issue is an Access database limitation, but I don't know that I understand SMB well enough to see if the high response time correspond to this.
Thanks for the help.
