Sho Ver produces an error

Hi,

#sho ver 

produces this error, before outputting the rest of the expected results of a sho ver:

Ver read taking too long. Aborting
proton_firmware_version_read failed asic 3

then the rest is shown:
Cisco Nexus Operating System (NX-OS) Software........
......

What is the issue? It's happening on a pair of N5K's, so it's not likely a single hardware failure issue, but a config issue....

NX-OS system:    version 6.0(2)N2(2)

Have you managed to find the cause for this? I am encountering similar issues as well.

Have you considered upgrading the IOS?

IOS upgrade is not an option at this point of time, i would need some concrete evidence that this is an IOS related fault.

Same here, on a 5596UP on 5.2(1)N1(6). Plus i'm affected by CSCun66310 so definitely can't upgrade nor even reboot.
