[subinterface hairpin to serial]

Hi,

I need to do the following...

-to be able to receive a full e1 on a card on a 3600.

-separate different slots into different subinterfaces

-then, grab the slots asigned to one of the subinterfaces

and 'hairpin' them to a serial interface (v.35).

is there such a funcionality on a cisco?

another way to look at this would be:

-the e1 comes into the router and it's dechannelized

-some slots are assigned to a subinterface for ip usage

-other slots are patched (untouched) through to a serial interface

(videoconference traffic)

if thes wasn't clear enough, please contact me.

regards,

carlos silva.

Carlos,

I don't think this is possible in the router. If you want to have video and IP data over the same E1, I can think of two options:

1) Get an E1 drop-and-insert CSU/DSU/mux that will front-end the E1, pass some channels to a V.35 interface connected to your VTC equipment, and the remaining channels to a drop/insert E1 interface to be connected to the E1 interface of your router. This will require the purchase of additional equipment, which I'm sure you're trying to avoid (who isn't?).

2) If your VTC equipment is capable of running video over IP, and your network has the capacity and/or sufficient QOS capability, run the video over an ethernet NIC.

Good Luck.
