Switch in rommon after wr erase

Hello,

We are running s72033-ps-mz.122-18.SXD4.bin, sup720 card.

First issue:

Configured switch, boot command as well. (boot system flash sup-bootflash:s72033-ps-mz.122-18.SXD4.bin). Wr mem, reboot, ios image was loaded.

But after 'wr erase' and reload, supvis card stays in rommon. Command 'set' shows BOOT= (empty). We set BOOT=sup-bootflash:s72033-ps-mz.122-18.SXD4.bin

sync command. reset, switch comes up with ios.

Sh config > no command line 'boot system ...' in config.

Second issue:

After config some vlans, wr mem, after tests > wr erase, reboot >> this vlans are still in configuration.

Thanks for help

Hello,

When you erase de configuration, you erase all the configuration except the information about vlans.

You can see the archives if you put de command dir, with this command you can see:

Start-config, running-config .... and vlan.dat.

If you erase vlan.dat : erase flasf:vlan.dat, the configuration of vlan disappears.

I hope to there be you helped in the doubt

Cordials greeting

Hi,

I will always recommedn you that even though you set the BOOT= in rommon and did sync when the sup is up with IOS set the bootpath again from the cofig more and then do wr mem and it will work fine after that.

Second thing when you create a vlan from vlan database mode the vlan.dat file is created which will not delete if you just erase the config you need to delete vlabn.dat from the flash but if you create vlans from the config mode then simply deleting the config will also delete the vlans.

Hello Ankur,

Thanks a lot for response; we will try now in lab and give a feedback.

Hello Ankur,

We made some tests now:

Results:

command

wr erase

does not only delete running-config with 'boot command line' , but BOOT= string as well.

That means: if a customer want to reconfigure a sup720 by wr erase, reload and then with config mode again, switch does restart only up to rommon mode.

That our problem.
