Hi,
One of our Catalyst 6509s recently started logging this funny message on syslog:
%SYS-3-SYS_MEMLOW:Malloc usage exceeded 90%
When I checked with the Error Message Decoder page at http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/Errordecoder/error_decoder.pl?index=catos&query=MEMLOW&counter=0&paging=5&links=reference&sa=Submit , it offers explanations for:
MEMLOW: memory cluster and
MEMLOW: mbuf
but no explanation is provided for:
MEMLOW: Malloc
Does anyone have any idea how I might be able to fix this?
When I do a "show proc mem" on all of my Catalyst 6509s and compare the results, the one with LOWMEM seems to have a process called telnet87 using large amount of memory...

Take a look at the following bug
http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/bugtool/onebug.pl?bugid=CSCdx19098
An upgrade to 6.3(8) in 6.x and 7.3(2) in 7.x train will fix this issue

I'm still running 5.4(2)... I will upgrade. Thank you! Tatsuo
