I need help with setting up my cisco 831 sdm k9 router. It was up running just fine but I ran the write-erase command to start over, little did I know that resting back to complete factory defaults did not work. The router did not go back to as if it where when I recieved it and plugged it in and followed the steps with using SDM.
Does anyone know how to set it back up so that I can configure it?
I have gone through the steps as listed at in the (reset to for mainline 12.3) to reset the router back to factory defaults and still no luck. All I need is to get the router reset back to how it was right out of the box so I can re-configure it.
running: IOS 12.3(8)T7

Carrick,
You can use the Cisco Router Web Setup Tool (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps380/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a0080118d1c.html#1027046), a free Web-based GUI, to manage the 831 and SOHO series of routers.
Otherwise please see this page: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps380/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a0080118cd0.html for skills on working with IOS for the 831 router.
Could you post the output of the "show version" and "show running-config" commands?
Cheers,
Josef

Hi,
On your enable prompt do :
router# erase nvram:
do not save the changes and reload it. It should be on factory defaults.

Thank you for the reply but, unfortunatly it did not work. I'm not sure if there was default config for first setup. DHCP is not running so I'am unable to access the websetup. I lack the knowledge to work in CLI mode.

What I'm trying to do is get the router back to how it was when I first recieved it. All I had to do was set my nic for dynamic ip then plugged into the router and turned it on. I recieved a default address of 10.10.10.2 then went into the crws with http://10.10.10.1 to configure the router.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I set the eth0 to the default address as shown in the CRWS setup, but I can't find the CRWS files anywhere in the downloads.
