Updating IOS software

Where do I find instructions on updating the IOS software on my Cisco 2610? I have downloaded the file and have a TFTP server installed on my laptop as I remember that being a prerequisite

You have to call Cisco and they will ask you to email your "show version" to them and based on that they will send you proper IOS. You will get an email saying that your file(s) are ready to be picked up at a particular site. You go to it, and Voila!
