Upgrading to 6513 from 6509

We've purchased a WS-C6513-E and would like to simply move our cards out of our current 6509 and slide them into the 6513.

Is it pie in the sky dreaming to think it could be this easy? What sort of things should we be looking at to make it as painless as possible.

Here are the 2 main points I can think of

1. In 6513, the slot 7 and slot 8 are the SUP slots. In 6509 it is slot 5 and 6

So make sure that you insert your SUPs in slot 7 and 8

2. 6513 supports dual fabric Line cards only in slot 9 to 13. 6509 doesn't have this restriction

So make sure that you insert your dual fabric line cards to slot 9 to 13

Thank you

Wonderful, thank you. Is there any concern about the OS version needing updating?

No need to change the image

You have different images for different SUPs. As long as you are using same SUP as in 6509, you can use the same image

Thank you

Raju

Hopefully unlikely in your case, but I recall (?) really old IOS images balk over a different (newer) chassis.  (Conversely I've [definitely] seen newer IOS image drop starting really old line cards.)

BTW, actually that limitation, with a 6513-E, applies to sup720, not the newer sup2t.
