Use of mode conditioning cables

I have some switch connections that will exceed 900 ft but not sure by how much. I am planning on using LX GBICs. Will mode conditioning cables work with LX GBICs at any distance up to 1804 ft or can you have a distance that is too short to use mode conditioning cables even where LX GBICs are used?

Re: Use of mode conditioning cables

You will need the mode conditioning cables to overcome a difference in core diameter.

This means, they are always required when you are using GBIC's with a different diameter than the fibers you use to transport the signal.

Using LX GBICs on 62,5 fiber is such a case.

Without them, it will not work at all.
