but i am not able to connect to the console i get a blank screen nothing else .. what am i doing wrong ? this is my first time , that y excited .. & wana make it work asap...
can you help me out here ?
You are going to need a null cable to get that working , the 1900's were different than all other cisco switches as far as connecting into them . Or you can go to radio shack and get a null adaptor to fit your serial adaptor with a straight thru cable. Also if you have internet access download Tera Term for your terminal emulator , you'll have a lot less problems than trying to get hyperterm working correctly and it's also a real good telnet client .
I thought, most 1900s did have a RJ45 port on it, unless yours is a very old model. What kind of switch is it. There should be sticker on the back or side, 1912, 1924 ?
sir is it possible if you can show a picture of the cable on the internet here ? give me link .
i think the cable i have is also a null cable .. just wana be sure ..
Please see the pinouts for the null modem cable. You can make at on your own.
