VLan question and enabling GVRP?

My environment looks like this. Cisco Catalyst 3750 is set as a VTP server. I then have 10 3550's running as VTP clients. All of these switches work great and I can assign any of my VLans to any of the ports. Now the problem...

We have a loan Dell PowerConnect 3448 sitting out on our factory floor. It is a managed switch and is capable of routing VLan traffic. Dell is telling me that VTP is a proprietary protocol used by Cisco and that I need to enable GVRP on my cisco switches. Is this true and if so can anyone explain to me the process of enabling GVRP.

Thanks so much,

LR

3550/3750 does not support GVRP. Why don't you just create the VLANs locally on the DELL switch? You should be ok as long as you do not add/delete VLANs very often in your network.

Is GVRP support also NOT available in the Catalyst 3560s? Is GVRP support planned?
