Am planning to remove the SQL Database if it's not needed by the Ciscoworks.

The ANI server (and thus most of CW e.g. CM) is using the Sybase Anywhere database. RME is using it directly. I think third party applications like DFM and RTM is using their own database.

Do you have any Cisco documents explaining the databases used by CW in detail?
I tried looking for the info in the README files and User Guide, can't seem to find one.

If you are running your CW2000 installation on Windows you can look in the ODBC configuration under System DSN. You'll find entries for cmf (Common Management Foundation, the ANI Server), rme and anything else using it's own database. Note that RME in itself is a number of application all using the same database. I don't recall to have seen this documented anywhere.

CW2K installs it's own db which if you remove will hose the application.
