WS-C3750X-24P-S is not booting with c3750e-universalk9-mz.152-1.E1.bin

According to CISCO, the image is compatiple with WS-C3750X-24P-S however the switch just fails to boot with it.

Here is the error below:

Boot process failed...

The system is unable to boot automatically.  The BOOT

environment variable needs to be set to a bootable

image.

The switch is not booting from USB stick either. The only image that works is c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE3.bin.

If I copy this file to flash, the switch fail over to it. The console's output below (I replaced some lines with <...>):

I give up!

I can't see anything which points to the cause. 

The only stupid thing I can think of is that your appliance could be a counterfiet.  And that's a wild accusation I can't back up. 

If no one else has any ideas, I recommend Oleg you create a TAC Case.

I don't think it is normal to have these random characters immediatelly after the SET command. It looks like the ROM is damaged.

Hi Oleg,

Can you try upgrading to any IOS first in between 12.2(55)SE3 and 15.2(1)E1 and then upgrade it to 15.2(1)E1. ? This means lets first upgrade the IOS to a pre latest image and then finally to 15.2(1)E1.

Generally we do not need intermediate upgrade but as it is not an expected behavior, we can give it a try.
