i am trying to load IOS on 3640 router through xmodem procedure because the router is enable to boot from the existing IOS file and runs in the RomMonitor mode. The process of IOS loading starts through xmodem procedure but after the transfer of 99kB the message displayed is "connection terminated by the remote host " and file transfer is stoped. i have tried it many times and all the time the same message is displayed what should be possible reason of this problem.

My suggestion would be to change the xmodem speeds and check..it should work..

You can try to boot 3640 from bootflash instead and upgrade the flash image after. Once the router booted from bootflash, you can use tftp to upgrade the image. Pl. visit following url for more

After that use "copy tftp flash" and make sure that connectivity is there between router and tfto server.

Use the Xmodem transfer at higher console speed. Visit
