ADSM 5525 Update won't stop downloading

 In the GUI I tried to use the update function. Went to tools>check for update, selected it clicked to upgrade to 9.12.3, currently on 9.10(1). 

 After 6 hours it still at "status" please wait while software request is processing"

 I tried cancelling, won't let me. Closing the GUI isn't happening either. Suggestions?

I would kill it through task-manager and then load the image from CLI.

You can use a tftp-server like tftp64 or a web-server like HFS running on your PC.

 Killing it through task manager will not affect the firewall, correct?

right, it's just the gui that gets killed.
