ASDM-IDM launcher not working!! Demo software is not installed error

I have installed ASDM launcher 716 on Windows 7. It does not appear on startup menu and keeps on giving me an error that Demo software is not installed. Please install demo software from http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/asa"

Please help!

Hi,

I had the same problem, and fixed.  Follow this steps to solve it:

OS installed in my computer : Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits

ASDM Demo Version installed : ASDM 7.1 for ASA

1- Uninstall any java more recent version you have.

2- Uninstall ASDM Demo

3 - Reboot PC

4 - Install Java Runtime 1.6.0.24 - 32 Bits

5 - Install ASDM Demo 7.1

6 - If you dont have any new icon on your desktop, go to 

C:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco Systems\ASDM

7 - doubleclick  "asdm-launcher " in that folder

8 - Select "Run in DEMO MODE" and in "select version" choose 7.1(4)

In my case , after this steps, everything is working fine now. Remember to reboot after uninstall Java RE, otherwise it wont work.
