Is it possible to setup VMS on a server with an Oracle DB as its backend?

Just from looking at the documentation, I'd say no. Don't know if it's in the cards or not for the future. My guess is no, but I'm not the product developer.

No, unfortunately not. Ciscoworks VMS uses a Sybase backend only.

Hmmm, I thought it was MSDE or MS SQL Server 2000 SP3?

Nope...Sybase.

Duh, VMS uses Sybase, CSAMC uses MS SQL. My bad...

Can the Sybase backend be linked to another db, for custom parsing/applications?

Are there any other/newer export tools besides "idsalarms"?

You can pull data from the RME portion of VMS utilizing the Data Extraction Engine (DEE):

...but I'm not sure how to pull data from the specific MC databases. Perhaps Tom will know?

Depending on the MC backend, you can use any of the DB tools to parse and extract. I use local MS Query and Excel for our 4.x CSA MC.
