I'm fairly new to Pix's but have worked with routers in the past. Under what circumstances would a conduit be preferred over an ACL? From my reading they seem to provide the same functions.

Conduits were used prior to acl's. As far as I'm concerned there is never a time that a conduit would be preferred. Acl's do the same thing but offer greater control and are the compatible command for use with the PDM and MC.
Hope that helps.

Per an earlier forum post conduits will no longer be supported in version 7. I would just use ACL now and prevent any issues in the future.

Conduits is caveman era stuff.
I would not use Conduits under any circumstance. Objectgroups + ACLs are the way to go.
