ip identd with 12.2.26

I am running 12.2.26 on a 3640 and am trying to disable ip identd. The command reference says that it should be there (since 11.x); however, the command is unrecognized when entered in global config mode.

Was this command depricated?

Any clue as to how (or if) I can disable this feature?

Thanks.

How old is the command reference you are using? I think identd was disabled by default ages ago - perhaps with 12.0. The 12.2 IOS security configuration guide only tells you how to enable identd, not disable it, which would seem to confirm my belief that it has been disabled in IOS versions for years.

You could try "ip identd" to see if you can enable it.

On a port scan of your router, what ports appear open?

Enabling and disabling give the same unrecognized command. Unfortunately as this is a Military environment I am not authorized to port scan anything as that would be a 1-way ticket home.

When I did the research on the command one would have thought it would have mentioned deprication and in what release somewhere...but I didn't see it mentioned anywhere.

Good idea about the port scan...just wish I could do one.

Thanks.
