Hi Rajesh,
Question:
when I try to install SDM (version 2.2a, March 2006) on my router I get error message:
RCP is denied through the connected interface. Update can not proced.
Reason:
These issues will be encountered for IOS images 12.4(4)T and above. SDM uses RCP for installation operations. This problem occurs because the fix for CSCdu34824 in recent Cisco IOS releases has changed RCP behavior. Because of this change, if the RCP client
uses a non-privileged port , the router RCP server does not respond and the above issues occur.
>>> thanks to sikrishn for details on this issue <<<
Workaround:
1) use the copy tftp flash command to copy SDM related files from PC to router.
example: Router# copy tftp:/// flash:
2) downgrade the router to older IOS, eg. 12.3, then use the usual SDM setup and upgrade the router again.
On Cisco 831 Router your flash: will contain these files when SDM 2.2a ist installed.
System flash directory:
File Length Name/status
