NAC Guest Server Email Notification Issue

jennyjohn

Once I create a guest account on the NAC Guest Server, it fails to send email notification to the guest user. I am getting the following error.

Email failed to send. Please contact your System Administrator.

Only the very basic needs to be configured on the NAC Guest Server, as shown in the attached screenshot (actual domains replaced). The exchange server is configured to relay any email from the NGS IP from anonymous to any email id.

Also is it possible to find the services that is running on the NGS to send emails?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jenny,

What version of NGS are you using?

Does your sponsor have permissions to send e-mails?

What logs do you see on the mail server / SMTP relay?

You can also check the logs under the Admin GUI at: Server > System Logs

There you can verify what is the report under "application logs" and also "support logs > maillog".

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Federico

Thanks Federico for the reply.

I am using NAC Guest Server version 2.0.3

permission has been enabled to send email from the NAC Guest Server to any outside email.

The System Logs shows the following error:

lobbyFailed E-Mail notification: user@aol.com 8757 12-Jun-2011 06:23:38
lobby Sending email failed: Could not open socket 12-Jun-2011 06:23:38

But it does not mention which socket port it could not open.

Unfortunately there are no mail logs are no logs on the mail server.

It was a DNS issue, it could not resolve the SMTP Server name.

When I gave the IP address it worked.
