old question about subsystem in XP

so, I have just installed VPN Client 4.0, and appears the error windows: The necessary VPN sub-system is not available.......

What shall I do, or what shall I test at least? I have installed it for 3 times.

I am using DSL with pppoE, the ICS is being disabled, no firewall.

the software installed also a new "Local Area Connection", shall I do something with it?

has anyone an idea? thanks

I had this issue before. You may try to restart the "Cisco System Inc. VPN Service" from Control Panel-> Administration Tool -> Service. Regarding the new "Local Area Connection" , its the virtual adapter created by the VPN Client. No need to touch them.
