Pix 501 and cable modem config

Greetings!

I recently picked up a Pix 501, and Im trying to configure it for use within a small network. The inbound internet is coming via a combo modem/router, which is connected to eth0 on the pix, but Im experiencing some configuration issues. Im fairly new at using one of these, so I would greatly appreciate any guidelines!

You probably made your hands dirty when picking it up from an ancient dust-bin and it's strongly advised to directly put it back. This device has not seen any updates (including any security fixes) for about a decade. A crossover cable will give a a similar security but uses less energy.
