Newbie here setting up a shiney new CISCO ASA 5555-X
I followed the Quick Start Guide here :

Pulling out collective hair out as it didn't work. Couldn't ping or connect to 192.168.1.1 whatever we tried.
Turns out you need to have the nameif inside_1 after the bridge-group so for example:
interface GigabitEthernet0/1
security-level 100
bridge-group 1
nameif inside_1
no shutdown
NOT:
interface GigabitEthernet0/1
nameif inside_1
security-level 100
bridge-group 1
no shutdown
That fixed it and I can login.
