The head of the pack in vulnerability discovery and updates always seems to be eEye digital and ISS X-Force. Where is Cisco?
When new vulnerabilities come out it always seems to be eEye or X-Force finding it - even if they don't discover it, they are the ones we hear describing the vulnerability, making recommendations, etc...
Where is Cisco? I work with many security products: Cisco, ISS, eEye, etc... and I like to think that Cisco puts out the best in security products, but they don't appear to be pounding the streets getting the word out. Reminds me of when NT started getting hot and Novell turned a blind eye because they were the leaders in network operating systems and now.. they are behind the curve.
What happened to Cisco Secure Scanner? I used to use it, but don't even know if it's around any more... is that my fault? Or should Cisco be pushing their product more? I use ISS Internet Scanner now and have tested retina on several occasions - due to persistent sales reps. Where is Cisco? Why don't we hear about them discovering vulnerabilities? I work in a very large enterprise and the newer security products being considered are not Cisco... much to my dismay.

Ciscos job is not to go around and test other peoples software for vulnerabilities and report this to vendors (ie eeye etc..) Ciscos job is to provide the tools to protect your network ie: Firewalls, IDS's etc..
