VPN / Novell

I have a issue that i have not been able to understand and don't know where to look.

I have a cisco 3005 running 4.7.2b and when a client connects everything works great BUT novell mappings. SLPINFO /a shows the slp being ok, and i can login ok. but i can't map with server name, or dns name, only with the ip address.

why wouldn't it work with the dns name "servername.domain.edu", only the ip address.

anyone seen anything like this?

mike

Do you have a DA? And is the WS using it?

yes i have a da setup. this is the report from slpinfo. (please remember i am a network guy, not a novell guy) the FULL context UNC for the server will work. but just the dns name will not, and only over the vpn.

If you are using a vpn concentrator, do you have routing set up so that your the concentrator has a route to the DA? I believe that it will use RIP and possibley OSPF. For mine, I just used static routes.

ya i can get to the da with mapping the ip address so i know i have connectivity. It is just with the dns name we can make a connection.
