10k bonding upstream issue

Hi,

In bonding situation 8x4 or 4x4, let say I have a poor level upstream on Upstream X ( 6/1/4 Ux)

or  defect cable or anything that could affect a upstream port

Is there a way to tell the ubr to bond the CM on the upstream who are ok instead of doing 8x1 - 4x1

example, can the CM do  8x3 or 4x3   without modifying manually:

cable upstream bonding-group

cable fiber node

etc...

Hi,

In partial service, the modem and CMTS should use a reduced TCS to provide the service.

Also, you can check the DOCSIS specification where it is stated that, when an US is unusable, CM must not use any data opportunities provided for that channel (section 8.4 from http://cablelabs.org/wp-content/uploads/specdocs/CM-SP-MULPIv3.0-I29-151210.pdf)

Hi Pascal,

Cisco CMTS allows modems to remain online in partial mode when US impairments are present without having to do any changes in the configuration.

If I have problem on upstream X, let say too much noise or poor level  and the Cable modems  go in partial mode does that mean the CMTS will prevent CM using that upstream and not affecting the services. ?
