hi

we have taken a dedicated internet link from isp terminated on a router(2Mbps).

We want to divide this bandwidth in no. of users e.g 64Kbps for 1 user 20Kbps fo another. We want to impliment bandwidth limitation per user.

Also want to monitor usage per user .

Every user will go to internet with single public ip configured on router interface.(Pat).

we want to calculate usage based on private ip.

is there is any mechanism to implement this topology without use of proxy (Linux) .

regards

pushpak

Hi Pushpak,

You could do all this with an SCE1010, but it is probably an overkill for a 2Mbps link (the SCE1010 can do 1Gbps).  I am not sure if it is possible an other way.

About calculating usage based on source IP, I suppose you should have a look at Netflow (I am not specialist in that technology though).

You would maybe have more chance in the "Small Business Routers" section of the forum.

Cheers,

Tom
