routeing public address over private address

Hi Engineers,

i have that question, is it able to route public addresses over private address,

let me clarify what i mean,

i have checked an edge router in a small ISP and i found that he has a default route with a private address next-hope ,

i will show you the configuration of ISP edge router interfaces,

int gi0/0.10

ip add 165.x.x.x x.x.x.x 

!

int gi0/1

description "connected to (other service provider) "

ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.252

!

Is that possible??

 

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.2

As Long you are not doing NAT, and Public IP Routable, P2P link can be any provate IP's most of the scenarios).
