Hi ,

We have 3 seperate network with 3 diffrent ssid with one call manager.

on all phones we set 3 profile , but when phones run through networks they stucked in last network and shows leaving service area .

they could not switch fast betwheen networks and it takes almost 5 minuts to join .

Could we set same ssid on all 3 network to over come this problem ?

how we set priority on profiles ? for example ssid 1 with higher priority than ssid 2.

Salam Mohammad,

Phones will surely get disconnected if they switch between different SSIDs. You need
o have same SSID with exact same config for roaming to work properly. You need also to take in consideration the recommended RF settings that suit your phones. You can check the phone guide to see what are the recommendations for your wireless network for the phone to work properly.

so what is usage of profiles?

There will not be seamless roaming between different profiles.

The 792x phone would have to exhaust all possible neighbors for the connected profile before it would scan other profiles.

And definitely couldn't carry a call over between profiles.

I don't suggest to have 3 different WLANs just for voice in the same environment.

This will raise the noise floor unecessarily therefore reducing capacity.

The typical supported deployment is to enable the "voice" ssid with proper configuration to all APs where you want the 792x phones to be utilized.

You can decide whether to advertise that "voice" WLAN on 5 GHz only, 2.4 GHz only or both bands, where you can adjust the phone to use 802.11a, 802.11bg, Auto-a, Auto-bg, or Auto-RSSI.

Auto would enable scanning of both bands.

If this is done for redundancy purposes from an RF perspective, then suggest to set the phones for Auto-a, where a single SSID is enabled for 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz.

If you are doing this as one profile is 802.1x and one is PSK and protecting against the RADIUS server going down, this will not work well as the 792x phone will get beacons and probes from the 802.1x BSSIDs therefore it wouldn't look to move to any other profile.

As far as profile priority goes, it will scan all enabled profiles at power on and will attempt to associate to profile 1 if available.  Otherwise will look to associate to 2, then 3, then 4.

But if for some reason the phone is powered up in range of a lower priority profile where profile 1 WLAN is not available then the 792x could stick on the lower priority profile.

Basically, the 792x is not scanning multiple profiles once connected.  It would only scan other profiles once the current / connected profile is not longer available.

Ok , i will go with same ssid for wlan , but could we use 3 diffrent network setting ? for example network 1 192.168.1.0

Network 2 192.168.2.0 and network 3 192.168.3.0 for 3 area .  all 3 network have routed to call manager and have access To that .

Another question is in wlan security , configuration  also should be same ? becouse of security issue those network should Have diffrent security profile .

So this is for network redundancy?

If you have different subnets, I wouldn't recommend to use the same ssid for the same locaton.

You could definitely do this for a campus design where you can have different subnets per building, floor, etc.

But you should only configure the 792x phone with 1 profile, which is that core SSID.

Then you would need mobility setup between WLCs if you want seamless roaming between WLCs.
