The "sh version" output taken from the AP is of no help. Sandeep has stated that the firmware of the controller needs to be, at least, 8.1.111.0 (and later).

are AP and WLC in same subnet ? if not then keep in same subnet else you need to use one of the method:

Hi

As Sandeep says, take a look at the discovery process for CAPWAP/LAPs.
I personally always use the DNS method. You just need to configure an DNS entry pointing to the ip adress of your controller called cisco-capwap-controller.<name suffix>.
Then the new APs should automatically connect to the controller and download the correct software from the controller.

Configured DHCP option 43 on the server the AP has an IP address of 192.168.2.74

The controller is on 192.168.1.60 they can ping each other but the AP is not joining. The version on the AP is release 8 point something then on the controller is 7 point something. That is not a problem also????

It seems like the DHCP option doesn't get to the AP. It only tries broadcast CAPWAP discovery.
If the version difference was incompatible you should see another error.
Most of the time the console logs are pretty straight forward.
Could you post the DHCP options you have configured?
And the entire log from the APs bootup like Leo suggests?.

Time and date of the controller is wrong.
DHCP Option 43 is not enabled.
What firmware is the controller running on?
Console into the AP and reboot the AP. We want to see the entire boot-up process. (Don't post screenshots.)

Hi,

Please see the attached as per the above information,

Thanks

HI,

As per your output..WLC is running 7.6.130.0 version.. and 1852 AP need minimum 8.1.111.0 or higher version to join WLC.

Here is the comptibility matrix:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html

Update the WLC software and than try again.

Hi,

When I try to download the software I get error msgs,

Is there any other way to get the firmware???

I should have completed this two days ago

Thank you

If you dont have a valid service contract then you cant download directly from Cisco website. Best is to contact to your supplier and ask for the new software from your WLC.

as i told earlier...1852 AP need minimum 8.1.111.0 or higher version to join WLC.

You are still running lower version (8.0.152.0)

Upgrade to 8.2 or 8.3 version and then try again to join .

paste the output of these commands:

sh sysinfo from WLC

sh version from AP

Try to keep AP and WLC in same subnet and then try again!!!
