I have installed a new second WLC 2500. In an attempt to join an AP 2700 to the new WLC I configured the primary controller in Wireless > [The AP] > High Availability tab. After doing this the AP lost connection to both the new and old WLC. I then did a factory reset using the Mode button. Now the AP cannot join the controller. I keep getting the Invalid License in configuration request error. I have reset the AP to factory settings multiple times but cannot get it to join the WLC. I have searched and searched for a solution but cannot find one. Please help!

I would upgrade WLC software first as 8.1.102.0 is not a recommended version. Go with either 8.2.170.0 or 8.5.140.0 (remember 8.5.x is the last supported code version for 2504/5508/WiSM2). Please check below compatibility matrix & see all your AP model is supported by code version you go with.

Then I would plug that 2702 on a switchport configured on same vlan as WLC management vlan, in that way it will discover WLC via broadcast & should able to register. If you see same issue, pls attache AP console output as txt file to see exact error message.

How many APs currently registered to your WLC ? Below indicate all 25 licenses are in use ? This could be the reason why your AP is not registering.
License Count: 25 /25 (Active/In-use)

Does 10.70.1.x network is DHCP enabled ? if that is the case I would put new AP on that vlan & see what's happen.
Pls post "show sysinfo" output from that WLC as well.

Please disregard last post. That was a different AP.
I get a different error for WLC 10.70.1.x as I do on WLC 10.5.1.x.
The error on 10.70.1.x is: Regulatory domain in configuration request is invalid

I continue to try to connect the APs. Maybe some progress? I am now getting a new error:
Discarding LWAPP Discovery Request from AP Since entry exists in CAPWAP
Is there a way to clear this?
