Best Cisco Router(s) for Home use with mac filtering capability

Good day,

I'm looking to purchase a Cisco router for our home and would greatly appreciate any recommendations from the community. Our current connection is Fiber, and one feature I'm looking for is mac filtering for those pesky wifi piggy back riders.

Thanks in advance

Hi there,

Anything from the 880 series will meet your requirement. If you need it with built-in wireless look for the 'W' variants (albeit only supporting 2.4GHz), there is also a selection of WAN circuit termination options too. If it is just a plain router then go for the C881.

Take a look for the datasheet for full model breakdown:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/routers/887-integrated-services-router-isr/data_sheet_c78_459542.html

...they are cheap and plentiful on ebay.

cheers,

Seb.

I use to run a 1941w at home then went with a Meraki MX. Really depends on your budget and what features you want.

Honestly I'd not take a Cisco for home usage. I currently have an Ubiquiti Edgerouter for this.
