Hello, i have Cisco 3702 AP.  I found that can be possible convert AP into CAP.
I used commands from this: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/7-4/configuration/guides/consolidated/b_cg74_CONSOLIDATED/b_cg74_CONSOLIDATED_chapter_01101110.pdf.
Commands used:debug capwap console cli
                           archive download-sw /overwrite /reload tftp://~~~~.tar

AP image: ap3g2-k9w8-mx.153-3.JD4
WLC: 8.3.112.0

I have tried all packages which available for download on cisco.com to this AccessPoint. https://software.cisco.com/download/home/285029865/type/280775090/release/15.3.3-JI1?i=!pp

Main problem that my ap installing image, then reboots, then downloading something from controller and reboots again. And after all reboots AP stays on same image as before.

Also on first install it fails :"

Image version check passed

Not enough free space to download image first w/o extracting
deleting existing version(s)...
Deleting current version: flash:/ap3g2-k9w8-mx.153-3.JD4...
Set booting path to recovery image: 'flash:/ap3g2-rcvk9w8-mx/ap3g2-rcvk9w8-mx'...done.
Extracting files...
ap3g2-k9w8-mx.153-3.JI1/ (directory) 0 (bytes)OOO... [timed out]

ERROR: Problem extracting files from archive.
Download image failed, notify controller!!! From:8.3.112.0 to 8.8.100.0, FailureCode:3

archive download: takes 26 seconds" and on 2nd try install normally.

Also my AP UnPrimed and i don't see this point in mobile application. But in wlc i see point without problems.

I think im doing something wrong but i don't know what. Sorry for my stupidity but can somebody help me convert AP to CAP?

Hi,

Not enough space is not uncommon to happen. Try to console into AP and delete some files.

-If I helped you somehow, please, rate it as useful.-

I have deleted useless files from ap. No error when im installing new image, but again when it installs and then reboots it loading with old autonomous image.

No problem if the image has been deleted, once again you can extract the same image file

This is the problem.  The AP is unable to "contact" the location where the file is stored.  Could be a firewall issue or the wrong IP address was entered.

I confirm that ap can download image from ftp or tftp. There's no problem with communication between AP and fileserver.
